EPHESOS. THE IMAGINATION OF HISTORY

For the centenary of the excavations in Ephesos we create there the exhibition The Imagination of History by the invitation of the Austrian cultural institute in Istanbul in 1995. Together with Austrian, American and Turkish artists we set about getting round the historicizing staging of the excavations.
Thousands of day tourists are confronted with the contemporary artists? interventions. A computer game test, which tests historical knowledge or a TV placed in a hole in the ground between antique potsherds break the romantic historical image of the visitors.
